Im changing belt on my mk2 1.2 8v, got camshaft lined up, and crankshaft mark is easy to see on the pulley, but the Haynes manual shows a "notch" cut out on the alloy of the engine (oil pump i think) at about 8 oclock but there is no notch in mine.
Oct 3, 2010. #29. Timing mk 1.2 8v. GOT PICTURES!!!! These are the pictures just to show everyone the markings im using on teh camshaft to time my engine. Ive used the flywheel to find TDC and used the mark shown. Still not getting any luck, it sruggles when cranking and i had a puff of smoke back fire through the inlet. Nice.
Open Question. I need to set timing the on my fiat palio 1.2 2001,unfortunately did not check the timing marks and now I cannot get it to start. Its easy to get the timing mark on crankshaft wrong, so double check it. Better marks are available on the top of the bellhousing, using a mirror and torch, just line up the TDC with 0deg mark. Before you strip down the engine, have a feel of the tension and twist of the old belt. It will give you a good idea of whats needed. Tony UWLsQBz.
