I'm having a similar problem in a 2012 c250 sedan. I was trying to get a garage opener to connect to the rear view mirror but it wouldn't work after 20 or so minutes in the "2nd" key position (all electronics on but not the motor). 10 minutes later someone else tries to use the car to go somewhere and it won't crank.
